About Koningsdam
The MS Koningsdam is an upscale cruise ship operated by Holland America Line and is the first vessel in the company's Pinnacle-class fleet. Entering service in 2016, the ship's name honors the Dutch heritage of the cruise line, paying tribute to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands (Koning being the Dutch word for "king").
Design and Atmosphere
The ship's interior was created by renowned hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany in collaboration with architect Bjørn Storbraaten. The aesthetic draws deep inspiration from the fluid curves and architecture of musical instruments, resulting in light-filled public spaces characterized by graceful lines, dramatic atriums, and modern maritime elegance.
Life Onboard and Entertainment
Music and culinary arts are the central themes of the onboard guest experience:
- Music Walk: A dynamic collection of live music venues featuring diverse genres, including B.B. King's Blues Club, classic chart hits at Billboard Onboard, and classical chamber music.
- World Stage: The main theater features a 270-degree wraparound LED screen, providing immersive visual backdrops for live performances and lectures.
- Dining: The ship offers a wide variety of fine and casual dining venues, ranging from Pacific Northwest steaks and seafood at the Pinnacle Grill to pan-Asian flavors at Tamarind and French-inspired seafood at Rudi's Sel de Mer.
- Wellness and Leisure: Guests have access to the Greenhouse Spa & Salon, covered and open-air swimming pools, and dedicated cooking demonstrations and tastings.
Destinations
The Koningsdam primarily sails scenic itineraries, most notably seasonal voyages through Alaska's Inside Passage, along the Mexican Riviera, through the Caribbean, and along the Pacific Coast of North America.
